A market for $99 Dreamcasts in the box? Apparently so

How much would you be willing to pay for a brand new, in-the-box Sega Dreamcast? For a brief time today, Thinkgeek had them in stock… for $100.

Brand-spanking new dreamcast, right out of the box!

Knowing of my love of classic hardware, I found a link selling a new Dreamcast, in the box, selling at Thinkgeek for $99.99. That’s right, brand-spanking new. Never before played.

While the $100 may be a bit steep at the moment, the site is already out of stock. It seems that many gamers out there like the unboxing experience, and are willing to pay some extra cash to get it. The systems come with a controller, the 56k modem, the Web browser, a long-ass telephone cable in case you actually want to go online, and a game demo disc. All virginal.

The Dreamcast is a great system with some amazing fighters, shoot-em-up titles, and RPGs… it’s worth having one around. I’ll let you decide if $100 is worth the price for a new one, but seeing them sold at all warms my heart.
